Aubrey Calaway is a Maine-based audiomaker, educator, and essayist. They specialize in collaborating with artists, scholars, and activists to tell complex stories in sound.

In addition to other projects, Aubrey is a Producer on the “TransLash Podcast with Imara Jones,” a GLAAD Media-award winning and Apple Podcast Spotlight show.

Previous clients include The Institute for Contemporary Arts Miami, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Brightline Defense, and the Black Mountain Institute. Their written work has appeared in publications like Cite Magazine, The Texas Observer, and the Houston Chronicle.

Aubrey is a graduate of Brown University and the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies. They have taught audiomaking workshops at Salt and across the country.

Aubrey was the 2023 Salt Artist in Residence at Monson Arts.
